When your child is having a difficult time academically, behaviorally, or socially at school, every parent and guardian wants to get the best support possible. Knowing how schools operate can give parents needed information to advocate for their child, teen, or young adult.

Services provided:

  • Help parents and guardians determine whether an IEP or a 504 Plan would enhance their child's educational success

  • Assist parents in establishing an IEP or 504 Plan for their child

  • Support parents who are having difficulty getting their child’s needs met at school and recommend next steps

  • Recommend specific accommodations or interventions within the IEP or 504 Plan

  • Suggest revisions for existing IEPs and 504 Plans

  • Explain terminology and acronyms used by educators in the IEP and 504 Plan process

  • Clarify Procedural Safeguards

  • Interpret Indiana’s Special Education Rules

  • Describe special education eligibilities (i.e., Specific Learning Disability, Other Health Impairment, Autism Spectrum Disorder)

    Rachel Briscoe is a school psychologist with over 25 years of school experience. Her extensive knowledge of psychological testing, psychoeducational evaluations, and the special education process will help you navigate the process of obtaining support at school.
