More About Me
As a licensed psychologist with a background in health psychology, I find joy in helping my clients discover what motivates them to move forward in their lives. I strive to help others process and carry all of life’s experiences with them while still progressing in a valued life direction. With this aim, I view my clients through a holistic lens and support them in making progress in both mental and physical health. I have a supportive and direct style that creates a comfortable space for meaningful growth.
I have experience working with clients with various presenting concerns, including mood disorders; anxiety disorders; OCD and tics; ADHD/executive dysfunction; parent-child interaction challenges; insomnia; weight loss/eating disorders; complex medical diagnoses; trauma-related issues; grief and loss; life transitions; chronic pain; and prenatal, perinatal, post-partum, and maternal mental health. I enjoy working with a diverse client population because each day presents a set of new challenges that I can tackle together with the client. My goal is to create a comfortable environment for my clients to share what they are going through, and this includes being comfortable with a wide range of presenting concerns.
I’m passionate about providing care across the lifespan, and I work with clients ages 3 and up. When addressing challenges in young children, I draw on my training in an evidence-based approach called parent-child interaction training that fosters positive communication and develops stronger relationships between parents and their children. I also offer parent consultation for behavior management, and my philosophy is that when provided the appropriate framework, families can create a positive environment that fosters better communication, improved child behaviors, and overall stronger family connections.
In individual therapy sessions with older children and adults, I work to help my clients feel more in control of their thoughts and emotions, and I empower them to make life choices aligned with their values. I strive to equip my clients with coping strategies to help them manage their concerns and continue to grow in between sessions. I am particularly passionate about helping children and adults diagnosed with ADD/ADHD find success in their lives. My experiences in both medical and school settings have provided me with a unique insight into the difficulties those diagnosed with ADD/ADHD face. I strive to help my clients learn behavioral strategies and coping skills to be able to achieve their goals in school, professionally, and beyond. In my sessions focused on prenatal, perinatal, post-partum, and maternal mental health, I draw on my own experience as a mother as well as my years working in healthcare. I aim to provide a supportive, nurturing, and educational environment for women at any stage in their pregnancy journey. Finally, I also provide specialized care for clients dealing with complex medical diagnoses ranging from acute to chronic. My medical knowledge from working for several years as a health psychologist in a hospital setting informs the care I provide for clients at Bloom.
